What should I cook today? Mac n' Cheese the most popular recipe from America!

Macaroni and Cheese or the American Mac n' Cheese

COOKING TIME: 20 MINUTES

Fact: Mac and cheese is one of the best comfort foods of all time, and is a very popular dish in America. It's rich in flavor, relatively low in fat and has the perfect texture. This is a great recipe for preparing many weeknight meals! 

Tip 1: You can use any cheese you like in this recipe. Just be aware of the different nutritional values of the cheeses and the final taste!

Tip 2: Throw in a big portion of roasted chicken to add even more protein to this dish. A suggestion is also chopped bacon!

Tip 3: At the end you can throw in some red chili flakes if you like!


This high-protein mac and cheese recipe is easy, delicious and unlike other recipes is low in fat.

Ingredients for 4 portions: 

2 packets of pasta
150 gr white cheddar cheese, grated
60 gr of lean mozzarella cheese, grated
1/2 cup drained yoghurt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper
1/2 cup water of the pasta

Instructions:

Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water and drain. 

Return the cooked and drained pasta to the casserole in which it was cooked. Place the pot on the stove top over medium low heat. 

Add the grated white cheddar, grated mozzarella, drained yogurt, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper and the water from the cooked pasta. Stir to combine until the cheese is melted and the ingredients are well combined, about 2 minutes.

We recommend tossing a damp towel over the top to keep your pasta from drying out and make sure to mix everything together well. You may want to add a little extra garlic powder and pepper.

Serve hot with cooked chicken breast and bacon bits if you like! Enjoy!
