It's time to take stock of what's in your kitchen. If you're still cutting through the air instead of using a decent cutting board, or you're still using the blunt knives you bought when you were at university, we've got news for you! Having the right cooking tools and utensils can change your entire experience in the kitchen. Yes there are some cooking products that even professional chefs use... it's time for a culinary upgrade! Here is a list of their kitchen essentials, not necessarily in order of priority.

1) The 3 basic knives
You can skip the full knife set (you know, the one that comes with a fancy stand) and invest in a few essential knives instead. All you need is a chef's knife, a serrated bread knife and a fillet knife. These three knives have you covered for anything you need to cut.

2) Knife Sharpener

The best way to increase the longevity of your knives is to keep them sharp with a knife sharpener. Exactly how much sharpening each knife will need depends on how often you use it and your menu. We usually sharpen knives when dull and if you use them on a daily basis, definitely once a week to once every two weeks.

3) Cutting board
Glass or stone cutting boards are beautiful but a wooden cutting board is the best choice. These materials will dull your knives, so we would not recommend using them. Wooden cutting surfaces are grooved, so you should replace the cutting board every two years as bacteria can build up.

4) Non-stick pan
The basics never change, a quality pan should always be in your kitchen. You don't need to get a whole set of non-stick pans, even one non-stick pan is enough! TERRESTRIAL's high-quality ceramic-coated non-stick cookware is manufactured and packaged from recycled materials. The excellent and durable ceramic coating ensures great resistance to abrasion and high temperatures (up to 300° C). They have a smooth surface for easy cleaning. Discover all non-stick pans!

5) Cooking thermometer
For novice cooks we recommend a digital thermometer. If you want to roast a chicken or you want to cook your meat medium-rare successfully... it's got you covered!

In addition to the above, it is good to have some cooking essentials such as metal tongs, ladle, slotted spoon, measuring spoons and spoons, corkscrews, containers, mixing bowl, can opener and baking sheets on hand. Find quality cookware and kitchen tools in NAVA's official online store!
